The authors reason for writing this letter was because high schoolers are coming into college unprepared..  Mr.Sullivan's main point was that there are expectations that you need to build to get into college. These include strong writing and comprehension skills, determination, listening and thinking skills. He also says that kids need to have social skills which build their relationships with other people. We agree with the qualities that a college student will need. We agree that you need to be build the qualities in high school right from the start of the freshman year. We disagree however that all these skills need to be strong. We felt as if this author was biased because of him being an English teacher which leaves him to forget the other people going into different degrees.
