Recently I've gotten really into horror, mostly short online stories called "creepypastas". I've discovered through personal experimentation, that being exposed to too much horror can have some ill effects such as, inability to sleep, being easily frightened by small animals, and an unhealthy habit of waking periodically due to a door creak. Despite all of these however, I find myself coming back for more and more, and I want to know why. What makes these horrifying, mind-numbingly creepy, fear enducing  stories so addictive? What techniques do the authors use to weave such fantastically terrifying monsters and situations? How does the reader, become so terrified yet so enthralled with the ending to such works of art? And why does the reader always seem to come back for more? I want to find all these answers, or most of them, and create a story of my own, implementing what I have learned, to see if I can make a story worthy of scaring the socks off of anyone who dares read it!

  2. I really like your idea! I, too, am a big fan of frightening literature! I am very excited to see what you discover and create throughout the semester!
