Open Letter to 9th Graders Response

The author's reason for writing this letter was to inform high school students that are four years from college what they should expect and the expectations they should begin working towards to achieve. While they still have four years, the author wants the reader to learn what will be expected of them and the traits they will need that they should begin learning now. The author's main point is that there are several skills that a college-ready student needs and that they should be established as early as possible since they will prove important in college. For example, the author mentions the ability to be mature and willing in their school work will be important in college. We agree with the author when they say that a college-ready student is dedicated and ready to learn. A college-ready student should be willing to read and learn and have the maturity to do it enthusiastically. We disagreed with the letter when the author mentioned that socializing hurts the student. Socializing with a purpose and to a certain point can be very helpful for a student. In addition, we disagree that a student has to like reading and be passionate about a certain topic to be successful and college ready. A student can dislike reading or a certain topic they have to study and still do well in college and succeed.
