In the article "Open Letter to 9th Graders" by Patrick Sullivan  the authors main reason for writing this article is to tell high school students about what they need to do to make the transition easy from high school to college. It is an attempt to state the expectations clearly and to offer his advice and encouragement. Sullivan's main point in this article was for us to keep a positive outlook on reading and writing skills, as well as a positive attitude towards our teachers, peers, and staff. We agreed with the author that writing skills will be a very key aspect to our college success. We also agreed with his point about listening, "Strong listening skills also make possible healthy, positive, respectful human relationships." However, we disagreed with what he said about reading. Reading is a good skill to have, but loving reading is not related how good of a reader you are. You shouldn't hate reading, but loving reading is not necessary to do well in college.

  1. Thanks for starting the paragraph with the title and author name--yahoo!

I'm not sure what happened with the highlighting. It might have been a result of copying and pasting from the original article. Keep this in mind when completing a future posting.

Is there anything you disagreed with from the article?
